Care And Maintenance
Deon Surfaces are designed to deliver unmatched durability, beauty, and ease of care. With its non-porous surface, Deon is highly resistant to stains, bacteria, mold, and mildew growth. With proper cleaning and minimal effort, your product will maintain its stunning appearance for years to come. Follow the guidelines below to ensure the longevity and pristine condition of your surfaces without any need for sealing or repolishing.
General Cleaning Instructions
- Daily Cleaning
Use a soft cloth, warm water, and a neutral mild soap for routine cleaning. Apply soap to the affected area, gently rub in a circular motion with a damp soft cloth, then rinse thoroughly. Dry the surface with a paper towel or soft cloth. Alternatively, a 1:1 vinegar and water solution can also be used.
- Dried or Stubborn Stains
Soften dried stains with warm water. If needed, gently scrape excess residue with a plastic spatula. Apply a liquid gel bleach cleaner on a soft, damp cloth and rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. Repeat as necessary. A diluted vinegar and water solution may also be used.
- Metal Marks or Rust
Apply an oxide cleaner directly on the mark for spot cleaning. Rinse and dry immediately. Avoid prolonged contact of oxide cleaners with the surface.
- Limescale
Use a 1:1 vinegar and water solution to clean limescale. Wipe with a soft cloth and dry thoroughly. To prevent limescale buildup, avoid allowing water to dry on the surface—wipe spills immediately
Maintenance Tips
- Do not let water dry on your surfaces. Quickly dry spills with a paper towel or soft cloth.
- Avoid letting stains sit on the surface for extended periods, as this can make cleaning more difficult and less effective. For the best results, clean stains immediately as they occur.
- Avoid prolonged contact of cleaning agents with your surface. Always rinse thoroughly with water and dry to prevent streaks.
- Never use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, scouring powders, or abrasive pads. These may dull the finish over time.
- Prevent contact with highly acidic or alkaline substances or harsh chemicals, such as: dishwasher detergents, cleaners containing hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, oven/grill cleaners, grout cleaners, toilet bowl/sink cleaners, drain cleaners, detergents containing vegetable oils, paint thinners, varnishes, floor strippers, paint removers, tarnish removers, furniture cleaners, battery acid.
- Although Deon Surfaces are extremely durable by nature, it is not recommended to cut directly on the surface. Always use a cutting board to protect both your knives and the surface.
- While Deon Surfaces are highly resistant to impacts, avoid dropping heavy objects or impacts on the surfaces, especially near edges and cutouts, as these areas are more vulnerable to chipping. For sink cutouts or edge profiles, a minimum 1/8″ radius is recommended to reduce the risk of damage.
- Avoid dragging heavy objects or sharp items directly across the surface to maintain its pristine finish.
- Extreme heat, like with any stone surface, may damage Deon Surfaces. Avoid placing hot cookware directly on the surface. Always use a hot pad or trivet under hot items, as well as under heat-emitting appliances such as toasters, ovens, frying devices, electric skillets, or slow cookers.
- Suede and Satin finishes may show fingerprints or surface marks more prominently than polished finishes. Clean them using the same methods, ensuring thorough drying.
Additional Notes
- Deon Surfaces contain natural minerals, which may result in minor variations in grain size, shape, or color. These variations, including intentional color blotches for aesthetic uniqueness, do not affect product performance or quality.
- Deon Surfaces are not seamless, and visible seams are an inherent characteristic of the product. At the seams, variations in pattern and shade may be noticeable. Work with a professional fabricator and installer to achieve the best results.
- Samples are small sections taken from a larger slab and may not fully capture all the characteristics of the final product.
- Deon Surfaces is maintenance-free by nature. Unlike natural stone surfaces, it does not require sealing or re-polishing. Do not apply any sealers, penetrants, polishers. Such applications will result in patches on the surface, cause dull and inconsistent appearance.
